Web Designersaurs

Web Designersaurs

The concept of Web Designersaurs is a playful yet pointed term that refers to Web Designers who are stuck in outdated methods and resist modern trends and technologies in web design.

These Web Designersaurs might still be using tools, techniques and aesthetics that were popular in the early days of the internet, perhaps from the late 90s to early 2000s.

While their skills were cutting-edge back in the day, they now find themselves fossilised in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Characteristics of Web Designersaurs

Outdated Tools and Techniques

They might still rely on older software like Adobe Flash or stick to table-based layouts and inline CSS, ignoring responsive design principles.

They could prefer static HTML sites over dynamic, content-driven platforms like WordPress or modern JavaScript frameworks.

Their designs might favour skeuomorphic elements and heavy graphics, rather than the flat, minimalistic design trends that are now common.

Resistant to Change

These designers are hesitant to adopt new technologies such as CSS Grid, Flexbox or JavaScript libraries like React or Vue.js.

They might avoid learning new skills like UX/UI design, accessibility best practices or mobile-first design approaches.

They could be reluctant to embrace the move towards headless CMS, Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) or the use of AI in design.

Nostalgic Aesthetics

Their Web Design work might feature retro elements like gradient-heavy buttons, animated GIFs and visitor counters that were common in early web design.

The colour schemes could lean towards web-safe colours and early internet palettes, with little consideration for modern trends in typography and colour theory.

Lack of Responsiveness

Web Designersaurs might struggle to create websites that are fully responsive, leading to poor user experiences on mobile devices.

They might not understand or prioritise the importance of fast load times, optimisation for search engines or the use of content delivery networks (CDNs).

Struggling with Modern Client Demands

As clients demand more interactive, user-centered websites, these Web Designersaurs may find it challenging to meet those expectations.

They might also be out of touch with the latest trends in social media integration, e-commerce solutions or digital marketing strategies.

Web Designersaur Concept

The concept serves as a humorous reminder of the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in the fast-paced world of web design.

It highlights the need for Web Designers to evolve with technology and design trends to avoid becoming relics of a bygone era.
